Kennedy Center's Ensuring the Arts for Any Given Child Program Field Trips

The primary goal of the Kennedy Center's Ensuring the Arts for Any Given Child program is to assist communities in developing and implementing a plan for expanded arts education in their schools, ensuring access and equity for all students in grades K-8. Although the initiative provides a structure for work to be accomplished, the Kennedy Center understands that every community is unique, and tailors the consultation and facilitation to each site.
The Kennedy Center brings to this initiative more than three decades of work with thousands of students, teachers, principals, school district administrators, business leaders, and arts managers across the country.
Springfield Public Schools has been involved with this program since 2009. Students in SPS attend a variety of arts experiences every year through this collaboration. These experiences include:
- First grade students attend a performance of a musical during the month of May.
- Second grade students attend a performance of a ballet in December (The Nutcracker) or May.
- Third grade students attend a performance of Peter and The Wolf at Drury University in February.
- Fourth grade students attend a performance by the Springfield Symphony Orchestra in January.
- Fifth grade students have the opportunity to audition and participate in the SPS Elementary Honor Choir and performs in a concert in March.
